Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Social Services is to engage clients, staff, and the community to provide public assistance benefits to all who qualify and reasonable support for children with absentee parents to help Nevadans achieve safe, stable, and healthy lives.

Federal Shutdown Information

At this time, November benefits will be delayed. Applications will still be accepted and processed, but benefits will not be available until federal funding resumes. The Division of Social Services (DSS) is closely monitoring the federal shutdown and will provide updates as new information becomes available.

Important Updates

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) has changed its name to the Division of Social Services (DSS). The name is new, but the mission to support Nevadans remains the same.

The website address has changed to www.dss.nv.gov, all previously bookmarked pages will need to be updated.

A dedicated email listserv has been created to provide DSS customers access to information about program updates, changes, and public announcements. Here's how to subscribe:
